THE TILTED LIGHT

What use eyesight if it should melt
What use memory covered in estuary silt.
radiance floods the sky
where the landscape is
rendered as part apparition
past the ghosts and bones
of barbed wire towns
astonished by these
cemetery skies
the space all around
to witness the tilted light
the intimate rapture of things
the grass choking in our throats
& the salt seeping to the
waters below.
