This is a site dedicated to the Australian band from the eighties with the John Wyndham inspired name and a collection of songs of peerless quality courtesy of the late, very great David McComb. The Triffids were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2008 and their albums, particularly Born Sandy Devotional from 1986, have become part of the Australian soundtrack.

We are coming back to the Northern Hemisphere to celebrate the album that has become known as Dave’s finest hour as a vocalist and our best as a band. Not everyone agrees of course but there is certainly something very special about Born Sandy Devotional. If there was ever a bunch of songs capable of invoking the spirit of David McComb it’s this one.
Jill, Alsy, Graham, Marty and Rob along with our good friends Rob Snarski and JP Shilo and as yet to be announced special guests will play the whole thing from start to finish along with selected favourites of ours and yours.

The Triffids called it a day back in 1989, though they didn’t know it at the time. In 2006 the complete Triffids’ catalogue began rolling out in its shiny new remastered and repackaged form and it is now complete from the point of view of official releases. We have also delved deeply into unreleased rarities with a 10 CD boxed set. now very difficult to obtain. 2006 also marked the beginning of a series of live performances by the remaining Triffids and friends to keep alive the memory of David McComb. We have performed in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Belgium, London and Athens and Triffid’s fans around the world have warmed our hearts with their long memories. A documentary is currently being made about Dave and the band by Jonathan Alley. It should see the light of day before too long as well.
We’ve been very fortunate to have great homes for the catalogue –Liberation for Australia and New Zealand and Domino for the rest of the world. All the re-issued CDs should be readily available, with the possible exception of the boxed set which came in a limited edition on 1000 copies. We hope to be able to make this available once again before too long.

Jill Birt has a solo CD out and it’s a cracker. Featuring all new songs by Jill and recorded in Perth at Shaun Hoffmann’s studio, the CD features all the Triffids that Jill could muster ie all of us in some shape or form. An atmospheric gem of a record very much in the style of Jill’s regular contributions to Triffids’ albums, the CD is available at very select record stores, at gigs and here. We can only accept Paypal payments at this stage but you can use any credit card without having to sign up to Paypal so don’t let that deter you. The CDs will be mailed out by Jill herself and I believe she plans to sign all of them. A collector’s item at a bargain price.
