Is there someone watching over me
Keeping me safe in His mighty hand?
When I’m adrift, out alone
Is He the one that guides me home
Bird and beast at his command?

I know true faith is left unspoken
Strait and narrow is the way
Though I’m barely coping
Still I pray
With one eye open
Praying for the light to shine my way

I might smoke more than I ought to
And get drunk ’most every day
Friends of mine they shake their heads
But for all the things I’ve read
Jesus loves those sheep that stray

Hearts and heads are easy broken
Strait and narrow is the way
Though I’m barely coping
Still I pray
With one eye open
Praying for the light to shine my way

Every little bird that falls from the sky
Every little tear I cry
Is there someone watching over me
Keeping me safe from my own hand
Keeping me safe from my own hand…?
