We could talk about how bad it is
but it's quite bad enough
Shed a tear for just how sad it is
but it's not quite that rough
And when you talk, must you talk so low?
Must you hold your head in your hands and tremble so
when you know I gave that stuff up years ago?

Nothing good is going to come of this

People all agree it's such a shame
the way we drifted apart
But I'm the type who always walks away
baby it doesn't break my heart
I could ask you why you married him
I could ask you any one of a dozen things
but I don't like to watch an old friend suffering

Nothing good is going to come of this

Is it cruel to feel so uninvolved
with you standing so near
And to watch a happy home dissolve
and not to shed a tear
And when you talk must you talk so low?
Must you hold your head in your hands and tremble so
when you know I gave that routine up years ago?

Nothing good is going to come of this
