Of course, to be grammatically correct, it should have been "LES Hoodoo Gurus", but then I'm a pedantic f*cker.

I have a gig for you- The Triffids played Hernando's Hideaway on December 31 1981/1 January1982, (New Years Eve/Day) supported by the Inept Dilettantes (who, after they played, rushed off to play another gig at a house in North Cottesloe where they saw in the New Year in the company of members of "The Silent Type")

Perth - Hernando's Hideaway- Dec 31 1981/Jan 1 1982

I think it was an extra 'farewell Sydney' show late February or early March. I left for the UK soon after, in March.

The 12 string was an electric, painted white with small pastel coloured lines on it. I saw Dave play it at least once prior to you joining the Triffids. It was probably Matthew de la Hunty's as i saw him playing it at a few TTT gigs.

I think this may have been the Killer plants show as I believe in my Photos Paul Miskin(TT&T) is in them.

Another gig I haven't found mentioned elsewhere - I first saw the Triffids at Monash University O-week, end February or beginning March 1989. It was an afternoon gig with a number of other bands on the line-up, outside on the grass of the Clayton campus.

missing show.....
I know I saw them at the Boston Arms in London, sometime between May '85 & May '86. I was so lucky to be an American living in London, just at the same time when, not only The Triffids, but so many great Aussie bands were living there as well...Go-Betweens,Nick Cave,Crime & the City Solution,Apartments,Moodists,Scientists...most of which I would have had no chance seeing In the US. I remember this show particularly, because, not only was it a stormer, with then-new songs like Shell Of The Man,Region Unknown,Trick Of The Light, etc, being heard by these virgin ears, but I also got to meet Dave himself, thanks to playing in the last incarnation of Slaughter Joe at the time. I went with Joe Foster & Alan McGhee, who kindly did the honors. I was surprised how tall Dave was & he was very cordial & relaxed...when he got on stage, however,a bit of that "southern precher" thing came over him...I was transfixed for an hour or so....saw the Oct '85 ULU show & one other that escapes me,but the Boston Arms show was THE ONE!

I went with Joe Foster & Alan McGee,who kindly did the honors.

Good to hear from you, Tripsychord, and for your story.

...with his Oasis and Primal Scream connections, let's hope Alan McGee hasn't floated onto this forum some time and strayed on the slagging they routinely get from the Triffideratti.

Ha! I didn't realise they were so despised here...in my opinion,Alan had 2 good bands,Jesus &  Mary Chain & House of Love...and I know some would argue with these as well!

Someone I ran into in the street attempted to remind me of a mini Triffids reunion at the North Melbourne Town Hall Hotel in '96 or '97 when Steve Miller remarked to him that they were witnessing a historic moment. Can't remember it at all. Anyone?

If this is the same show I went to it was a wonderfully intimate and shambolic costar gig. Unlike most gigs I go to I didn't record it so don't know the date and can't verify if Steve did say that.

Hey Chris, do you know the exact venue and date of a 1983 or 1984 Covers night doing the rounds?
