Well that ^^^ was a pretty super night, much better than I was expecting truth be told.

Robyn played a ten song accoustic set of hits, hahaha, accompanied by his lovely neice on the musical saw.

Big Star on for best part of 90 minutes, gave the 1st album a good going over and the 2nd one got a look in as well (only 'thank you friends' from the 3rd in the main set, after which I left), a nod to the solo careers of both Chilton and Bell, a mildly irritating diversion into the last record that no one really wanted, and a little period in which Alex paid tribute to the influence that English music has had over his career by covering 'Til the end of the day' and then rocking up some Elgar. Really.

Band was both tight and appropriately loose, in that uniquely Chiltonesque way.  They're worth seeing.

Anyone bought the 4cd box set (Keep an eye on the sky) ? It's well worth the money. Lots of rare versions of (mostly well known) songs and a brilliant live set.

Apparently soon there will also be a deluxe edition of I am the cosmos.

In the meantime I bought the Rock City album (pre Big Star but only released a few years ago) and that one is quite good as well.

I've got it, sounds great - even the demo stuff......98 tracks, definitely worth the $$$

A fabulous example of how and what a box set should be.

I'll have it on heavy rotation the next few days. Bloody shit news.
