The Monkey Puzzle
If you have a look around here you'll find a review and some pics of the night I think. Also something about the instore bg3 did last Friday.

"He suggested the new In The Pines might cause a bit of consternation among hardcore fans, but I guess we'll find out soon enough."

Yeah, I was wondering whether the right word was being used there. Are we talking the excited or dismayed/upset end of the consternation scale?

You're a bloody tease you are...  Wink

Me, I'm hoping that Graham has found versions hitherto forgotten about, when the band flew an entire orchestra and a gospel choir out to the woolshed.

Yeah, this news just in from the news page of the website:

Quote
We had originally hoped to have ITP and Calenture in the shops by now. Unfortunately we've had to delay things. They'll be with you in the new year at the earliest possible opportunity. End of January is most likely. For people who've ordered from the Domino site, your CC will not be debited until your purchase is shipped.
I can let you know some vital statistics about the releases.
Both will come with extended and updated booklets and bonus tracks.
ITP will have added the five tracks we recorded at the time and didn't include for one reason and another. All tracks have been remixed by the original mixer/producer Bruce Callaway. One of the highlights of my year to date has been the afternoon I tracked Bruce down and learned he not only had the masters I'd been looking for but wanted to remix them.
Calenture will come with remastered B sides, any of which could feasibly have passed muster for the album proper, plus a collection of unadorned demos of the songs on the album.
More news soon

That doesn't sound too distressing Smiley

Yes, that's about all that can be revealed at the moment. It's shaping up as a genuine historical reissue programme and the exact philosophy behind it is being determined as we go. I can say that you will hear songs popping up again and again in different guises. Much as they did in a historical context. You might hear a song on In The Pines that later appears on Calenture. You might hear a song on In The Pines that's already appeared as a bonus on BSD. That sort of thing. I hope the whole series, though not being released chronologically, will tell the story of the  Dave's evolution as a songwriter, singer and (indeed)  maker of superlative records. Not forgetting the band that made them with him.

Hmm, presumably the omission of Native Bride and Dear Miss LH (and even YDMYW) from the BSD reissue was part of a masterplan!

All sounding quite exciting though and an end of January date for Calenture and ITP would be something to look forward to in the dreich Scottish winters.

Listening right now - and I hadn't heard it before - to "This song can save you" on Four Hours Sleep's myspace

I was just wandering and clicking around on myspace and stumbled across it - didn't know that that title was the song with DMcC - and then a few seconds of alert and recognizing the voice Smiley - great, fine song!

Thanks KrieB. A Dave sung song I'd not heard before. It sounded good first time around.
