There will be (and I'm not 100% sure I'm supposed to broadcast this news or not hence my reticence) just between you and me, a smaller gig in the same venue as 2006 on the Sunday night. Not the big show - a chance for the guests to let loose. We'll play too. This information only for regulars around these parts.

(football chanting mode on):

*Warren will have to sing!! Warren will have to sing!! Warren will have to sing!!*

(Hopefully he is definitely contractually tied and chained to the shows now? I mean we can't 'scare' - 'irritate' him off now?? :) - Hmm, maybe better to take no risks - football chanting mode OFF :-X)

(Better use code instead)  WWW Singing!! (a good comprehender will only need half a W to understand ...)

Nor would I mind Phil Kakulas doing a vocal! I really like his voice on his song "Hey buddy"

After missing the second night in Hasselt last time and vowing not to repeat that folly this time around, that's a bit on an ouch, Graham!

Sadly, too late to change plans as I've got an election to (help) run when I get back to work on the Monday!

I can imagine it now: Graham and Lightspeed Champion greet each other across a crowded room with the devil's horns, before slipping out the back to sacrifice a few frogs. Probably best to avoid that sort of thing at the Jerusalem though. If the landlord gets touchy about singing, he's probably not going to go in for satanic rituals.

The sunday gig has been confirmed by Kultuurcentrum BelgiŽ. Ticket reserved so it will be a three night Triffids c.s. event.

Description is :

"The Triffids - 'Aftershow'
exclusive club-event with live acts & surprises :

MELANIE OXLEY & CHRIS ABRAHAMS - THE NEARLY BROTHERS
(Martyn Casey, Mick Harvey, Mark Snarski, Mark Dawson...) - THE BLACKEYED SUSANS - The Triffids..."

Isthere going to be a pre-gig meet at the Century again this time? Mr & Mrs manicpopthrills are likely to be available from circa 5pm.

Me too....

I would recommend that those in the locale on the Sunday should try and make it along to this. We only had a small slice of that pie at The Blackeyed Susans London gig, and with a JP Shilo set and some Triffids bits added without coloured lights it should be a phenomenal experience. Lucky Belgians eh? Jacques Brel's not over from Hiva Oa for the late shift too is he? ;)

God, it seems, is not willing:

BBC News - Icelandic volcanic ash alert grounds UK flights

Given the direction the ash appears to be heading, I'm almost resigned to an insurance claim rather than 2 Triffids shows. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm in the same boat - or stasis - as you, manic. 4am start only to check into the departure lounge at Manchester Airport and be shown the door again. Novel experience to re-enter the UK without leaving it though! ???

The sun is shining, but the threat of dust in the air some time over the next 24 hours seems to have put something of a cloud over my head even if it's largely a fiction to all real intents and purposes.

even looked at booking a Eurostar train, but the £500 two person/two way ticket suddenly became unavailable as I reserved and re-appeared with a further £280 mark up a second later. A good day for the railways anyway.

I think I might get some kip and see how the air lies in a few hours, but latest is that UK airspace is being closed down completely from midday and the projected dustcloud is likely to lurk for another 24 hours at least.

Bon chance.....fat chance :)
