hi there ( especially Mint you flirt ) - i reckon this set will be no more than 1000 worldwide
as an example we have sold 450 of the 7" vinyl box set ( approx 25 left by the way - thanks all for helping make that one wash its face - that silver shiny sleeve!?? - £1.65 a sleeve alone - I winced when Graham asked for that one - glad we did it though ) so I just thought I'd stick my finger in the air and say 1000 and see how it goes. I won't be able to make anymore as it would be insanely expensive. I sense it's the right number. there's so much coherent stuff to document and present and an inherent logic - it's strange to say but the 10CD's are not over indulgent, it requires this many to do the job.
other than the singles nothing is really doubling up on what you have potentially purchased before - it's wierd isn't it?
The packaging costs of the box alone ( with all its trendy flaps and booklet ) costs in the teens of pounds you'll be gratified to know. Let's delay being green and close our ears to the sound of the drip drip of the melting polar ice caps for a wee while longer...
Anyway it's all glorious to do and hear the tiredness in Graham's voice as he wrestles with it all. Ha!

I'm going to set myself a commitment to list the tracklistings of at least 5 of the CD's by this time next week.

1.Tapes, 2. Live, 3. Singles, 4. Rarities and Unheard are the 4 themes that emerge from Graham's curation process.

best to all you lovely lot
We've just signed Steve Mason - Hurrah!
John

All sounds excellent.

With the limited nature of it, would you recommend pre-ordering as essential?

I'm very happy to guide and monitor developments and tell folks where all the stock is so there's no risk of running out unduly quickly or not knowing where the stock is situated...
I think more than half will go on pre sell from our site for sure. I suspect HMV won't get near a lot of this stock. A fair few will flow out into Belgium Holland and Northern Europe ( formerly known as Scandinavia - but I'm sensitive to our Finnish Brothers when I state that ), exports will flow into Oz - folks like Red Eye in Sydney are already sniffing around, it would be nice to think of a couple sat on the shelf in Polyester in Melbourne.

I'll put the fear on if i see it's running out for sure, we need to tell you what's on it first!!

the deluxe won't be up on I Tunes I can tell you that much..ba dum.

Grin Well, it is just a point of geographical accuracy... Smiley
Anyway, at least 1 box pre-ordered to Finland. Cheers again for all your efforts, it's been a fabulous 4 years or so in a life of a northern European triffhead....

These out-of-stock rumours are starting to worry me, so I just did the sensible thing too! Wink

3. FREE MP3s
http://www.dominorecordco.com/triffidsroad/

you did see this did you?

Oh yes, downloaded immediately and then took over a week to get them onto my iPod and give them a listen.

They bode extremely well for the box set. I love the way Graham always finds versions of familiar songs that show them up in a different light. I particularly like the solo version of Go Home Eddie but the rehearsal of Do You Want Me Near You hit the spot very nicely too. And then a new song on top of that... Not a song I'm familiar with anyway - should I be? Is it a cover?

Happy Boy is from Dungeon Tape and Rob sings it. That version from the rehearsal session for Lawson Square Infirmary...so the first time I ever played with The Triffids. It was done in the actual Triffid abode in Lawson Square, Redfern on a ghetto blaster.

Shows how often I've listened to Dungeon Tape - I didn't recognise it at all  Grin

Thanks Graham.

This is a bit unfair as everyone has their favourites, but please tell me you are including "Human Interest" from Tape 4 in the boxset Graham? I think it's an absolute Triffids early-classic. Very sophisticated musically, with so many chord changes and rhythmic variations. Great lyrics too, and one hell of a catchy chorus.

I was planning to wait for the boxset (it's a bit pricey for me), but you've all managed to persuade me to pre-order it: I would hate to miss out altogether...

Last night I discovered that another boxset which I've been long awaiting has pushed slightly ahead of The Triffids one in the queue, but has done so quite appropriately in a shivering February. Expensive but serendipitous Smiley.

Box set pre-ordered here, too!

I wasn't expecting this at all - was hoping for a box set, but 10 CDs worth...  That's mind-blowing!!!!

Fantastic (on-going) work G Lee!!!!

Thanks to Domino for using the Arctic Monkeys and Franz money for good instead of evil (Hell, I might even buy a Monkeys album to see what all the fuss is about...)!!!!

Thanks to everybody else involved, too!

We've just signed Steve Mason - Hurrah!
Great news re: Steve Mason, too!  The free mp3 sounds amazing - really looking forward to the album.
