I am loving my copies. Just returned from Montenegro to find them on the doormat. As with the reissues, beautifully done and a credit to all.

A Swedish sighting: it took a while, but now they are here, at my place, thanks Freemantle!

Mine came yesterday- beautiful!  I've got a work trip to the US next week where I had planned to do all my work reading on the plane.  Both books have now squashed that idea.

A bit of advance notice...I was in RTRFM today and couldn't help but notice the word Triffids written on a whiteboard on the far wall.

I turns out this Thursday morning (10th September, the day of the launch at Fremantle) they will be playing interviews with both authors and having some poets recite some of the works (interspersed with some tunes) - not sure who will be doing the reciting.

You can stream it live at 0930 hrs Perth time (0130 UTC) or restream the show from here,  http://www.rtrfm.com.au/shows/morningmag probably a day later (the program is Morning Magazine).

Here is what looks like an even better deal at least for Europeans: bookdepository.co.uk offer both Vagabond Holes and Beautiful Waste at prices very close to those of central books', but including postage to anywhere in the world.

I just placed my order for both books at above online shop (thanks for the tip, AM) and though I haven't received the goods yet I got a receipt for EUR 30.79.  Swedish forum members might be interested in the sum in SEK: 322.41.

A bargain.  Cool

Good, and moving, launch for Vagabond Holes and Beautiful Waste last night in Melbourne.

Hesitant to be more specific about performances and readings - mostly but not universally great. 'Susans' a great highlight.

Thanks to Graham (as ever), Rob, Phil, Chris, Georgia and a cast of thousands.

And of course, no thanks at all to you know very well who you are.

Like eke, I’ve pretty much failed to get poetry - a glance at beautiful waste didn’t change that. So I’m happy to say hearing the poems, as read at the launch, worked for me.  I didn’t think there was a bad performance, a couple of minor stumbles added to the informal feel of the night- an antidote to the hamer hall gig.

The Single Men’s Drinking Club’s take on Lonely Stretch kicked arse – Rob played guitar on that and Life of Crime– said he hadn’t had that much fun for a long time.

They also played pretty fair versions of heard you had a bed and everybody has to eat*.

The night was videoed by the love in bright landscapes crew – who’ve got funding for a new, improved website, they’re going to stick some of the footage that mightn’t make the final cut online, apparently.

*I don’t think my memory has failed me.

Just updated the DBC Pierre Wikipedia entry to show his inclusion in 'Vagabond Holes'.  Guess we could do that for most of the authors?

Don't know if this works, but Niall, Alsy and Martyn were interviewed by ABC radio at the launch.  Here is (hopefully) a link:

Got 'em! It took 8 work days from bookdepository.co.uk to my doorstep in Sweden, which is fair.

At first glance both books look very promising, in particular Vagabond Holes has a rich table of contents. It will also be interesting to see what to make of the poetry as compared to the song lyrics. My impression is they differ quite a lot.

tripsychord, although never say never - I doubt there is much chance of it's raining pleasure being released on NTSC. Madman's release is region 0, so if you have a DVD player that can play both (NTSC and PAL - they are common here) then it should be fine.
