Yes- well encapsulated Markfromperth and jimjam2- cc mitchell couldn't have done it any better. If I were to have any quibbles (and I DON'T- the whole show went off like a pretty well lubricated stopwatch- although some of the extended band members may hasten to differ...)-it would be the limited playing from anything earlier than "Farmers..." (which , thank goodness, they DIDN't play- what a millstone 'round Dave's neck that song proved to be).  BUT as I say- I HAVE NO QUIBBLES !!!!

By the way- did anyone see what became of the "78's" stubby holder Rob Snarski diced into the audience near the beginning of the show ?!?

Sounds great - some differences from the recent Melbourne outing too. Intrigued that Youth Group did 'Reverie' which I don't remember (pause for irony) from Melbourne. I think their sound works very well for the early stuff, and agree very much re the positive Toby Martin comments scatted through the review of these shows, based on Hamer Hall.

Dalsy used to play 'Sweet Jane' by the way...

It is a far, far better thing that I do now, than that other thing I did before that didn't go very well at all.

Yes, Youth Group certainly fit the part - and I should have added Reverie to the list of new songs. It was a great opener.

Yeah Julian pointed that out to me! It just seemd to come from nowhere, I wasn't expecting a song that wasn;t part of the show (unless it is!!).

Urpal, I'll definitely try and get Nick to write down a few words, I'm going to be interested to hear waht he has to say myself. I do know he'll enjoy it.
(by the way the package I promised is on its way to you)

The show tonight is being streamed live over the internet on iinet.net.au

It looks like the stream will be available to everyone, not just iinet customers.

However, I don't know the web address for the netcast. I'd advise anyone intending to watch to start exploring the iinet.net.au website around 8 pm (10 pm in the eastern states) tonight.

Show starts at 8.30 pm (10.30 pm ES) and probably won't finish until much before midnight.

Actually James it looks like you do need to be an iinet customer, but worth checking anyway.

Edit, sorry the link doesn't open the right page, just select Perth Fesitval on the left and you'll see the Triffids link

Has anyone got a signal (or any more of the lowdown) on this webcast thingy? And what's all that timezoneage in English money? Zero pm I expect with things being what they are Smiley

I've found what seems to be the viewing webpage, but it suggests it may be a customer only thing available after 24 Feb. Or possibly available live to customers and then on repeat to all comers, or maybe just customers again, after 24 Feb?

I really fell like a prick for this, but last night was definitely a notch up on Friday night.
I'm uploading photos to photobucket now and will post them later.
In the meantime check out this awesome shot (not mine, sadly..!)

http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/onblack.php?id=3296799131&size=large

We, the audience, must have been good to them (read Steve Kilbey's blog from Saturday), and we got Field of Glass in the first of two encores.
We also got Tender is The Night in the first encore with a far superior bubble machine than Friday night (glee called for the bubble machine before they played it, maybe it was better because it was at the front instead of rear of the stage. I think he may have been worried about timing so cranked up the bubble machine early).
In the second encore they played Fairytale Love (without the bubbles).

Some setlist changes
Youth Group dropped Reverie and played Tuscan St Retirement Village
The Susans played Curse on You (instead of Ocean of You).
No Bright Lights Big City
and of course Field of Glass

More later when my photos are done.
