Just having a chat with Milton about the Sydney festival shows and I was wondering if anyone had thought about organising a forum/fans get together before one of the shows?

Thoughts?
The old century tavern?

I would like to catch up.

I'm going to the Sunday 20th gig - as unfortunately I will be away down the coast on holiday for the earlier dates and only returning on the Sunday itself.

I know Geoff will be there on the Friday and Saturday nights.

Gazza might be there on the Sunday 20th - TBC.

Could others indicate which nights they will be coming?

The Century Tavern would be fine for drinks but if you want to eat as well I'd suggest "le Guillotine" - which is directly across the road and down the alley between George and Kent streets.

I'm up for it. I'm going to all four shows so any (or indeed all) of the nights suits me!
I don't have any alternatiuve suggestions for a venue, but having a feed would be good too!
Then we can head to the show in force and claim front-of-stage positions!

Mark, unfortunately you might find a problem with the front of stage position as it is a sit down concert!  Sad

OK all - many thanks and I look forward to hearing from others.

I shall try to book a table at "le Guillotine" for the Sunday night (and as I write this I'm wondering if they are open that night! - if not its the Century Tavern).  At this stage I'll try to book for 6 but warn them that the numbers may increase.

I'll get back to you via a forum post in early 2008 - have a merry xmas and a great new year to all.

Re: Sunday 20th - la Guillotine is closed on Sunday night - so no joy there I'm afraid.  I also walked pass the old Century Tavern yesterday and its closed down.  They did a terrible make over to it a few years ago and renamed it Bar Century - but it appears that punters have got some tatse and its shut down.

So we need to scout around for other pre-gig options.  The 3 monkeys bar is just across the road from the Metro - but its pretty souless.  Alternatively we could go to the Civic Hotel (cnr of Pitt and Goulburn Streets) or maybe one of the Spanish restaurants on Liverpool St - any suggestions??

Im going to Louis Tillett's gig at the Sando'  in the afternoon (anyone else up for it?), so yeah that big spanish pub on the corner of Liverpool & George Streets might be the go (sorry I cant remember the name of the pub) they also serve great sangria!

I was going to say if there is nowhere decent in Sydney open on a Sunday, I know a few places further south Wink, but Louis Tillet sounds good, I've been wanting to see him live.

Mark - yes, its a pretty poor show isn't it?  The Metro is located in the heart of the mainstream cinema section of Sydney - so the area caters for the mass market.

I can't make Louis Tillett as I'll be driving back from the South Coast beach shack holiday - but I think Milton's suggestion of the spanish pub on the corner of Liverpool and George Streets is a good idea.  Shall we say 7:00pm?  As I'll be going down the coast next week and not getting back until the Sunday night, I'm be out of email action.  I'll send Mark my mobile number so we can contact each other on the night.

There's always the Spanish Club in Liverpool St. It's very unassuming and uncool, just my kind of place.

Can't argue with that kind of logic!

In any case, whoever makes a booking wherever, please count me in!

Might also check out the Loius Tillet show as an appetiser for later on! Where is this Sando' place? Does it require tix to be pre-purchased?

Glee does have a point, the Spanish Club would be a quieter place than the pub across the road, what are your thoughts Kieren should we settle on the Spanish Club?

Mark, Louis Tillett has a Sunday residency at the Sandringham Hotel in Newtown from 4.30pm and entry is free, we can always hook up if you're not familiar with Newtown.

Milton - that sounds fine.  We have a date!  See you (and any others who might like to meet up on Sunday) there!
