Here's a start*. Like the gigography, I'll add more links as I get a chance.

If anyone wants to post a tab or chord sheet then this is the place to do it.

Tender Is The Night (The Long Fidelity)

Setting You Free

Wide Open Road

Stolen Property

I've Heard Things Turn Out This Way

Bury Me Deep In Love

You've Got A Funny Way Of Showing You Love Me

Trick Of The Light (repeating figure)

Belgian Fan Site stuff

Well, that was a whole lot easier than writing the book! ;D

*I think this is now a complete list of internet links to song chords that I have seen and can immediately recall. If anyone knows of or remembers any others then let me know where and I'll add 'em.

I suddenly was inspired to have a go at the chords for "The Seabirds" - to me
this is the signature song on BSD and the one I think of when I see the cover.
As with so many of David's songs it seems to be poignantly autobiographical and
slightly self-deprecating in a most endearing kind of way.
Anyway it's allowed me to (personally) give the song new life and I hope that at
least someone out there will be able to use these chords in the same way, and
I would not be offended in the least if someone could improve on this transcription.

The Triffids                       The Seabirds

    G               C                    D                Am
No foreign pair of dark sunglasses will ever shield you from
     G                  C                    D             Em
The light that pierces your eyelids, the screaming of the gulls
  Bm                   Am              Bm                     Am
Feeding off the bodies of the fish, thrashing up the bay till it was red,
 Em                                         Am               G  C  D  Am  G  C  D  (Em)
Turning the sky a cold dark colour as they circled overhead.

     G              C                            D                Am
He swam out to the edge of the reef, there were cuts across his skin,
 G                C                      D                 Em
Saltwater on his eyes and arms, but he could not feel the sting
          Bm              Am               Bm                   Am
There was no one left to hold him back, no one to call out his name,
 Em                                              Am
Dress him, feed him, drive him home, say "Little boy it doesn't have to end this way!"
G  C  D  Am  G  C  D  (Em)
       G                    C                       D                     Am
He announced their trial separation, and spent the night in a Park Beach Motel bed,
         G            C                 D                     Em
Total stranger lying next to him, rain hitting the roof hard over his head
           Bm                    Am                 Bm                   Am
She said "What's the matter now lover boy, has the cat run off with your tongue?
          Em                          Am                   G  C  D  Am  G  C  D  (Em)
Are you drinking to get maudlin, or drinking to get numb?"

           G                    C                   D                Am
He called out to the seabirds "Take me now, I'm no longer afraid to die",
       G               C               D                              Em
They pretended not to hear him, just watched him with their hard and bright black eyes
            Bm                    Am               Bm               Am
They could pick the eye from any dying thing that lay within their reach,
          Em                                        Am
But they would not touch the solitary figure lying tossed up on the beach.
                G                 C                 D        Am      %    (Em)
So, where were you?   Where were you?   Where were you?           (x2)

Raining Pleasure
« Reply #5 on: November 23, 2009, 09:30:27 PM »
Did this one some years ago for OLGA

Raining Pleasure by The Triffids
Verses:
Am C
Am C Am

Refrain:
F C Am    D
Am G Am

Trail through the wilderness
Dryest season known to us
Think about you all the time
Think about you all the time

Trail through the sinfulness
Dryest season known to us
Dreamed I saw it all come down
Dreamed I saw my pleasure raining down

Refrain:
Salty lips to taste skin to touch
Nothing matters very much
In your arms its a raining pleasure
I believe its raining pleasureer

Too little cash too much time to kill
Buried alive in a shack on the side of a hill
Hasn't rained for fifteen years
Hasn't rained for fifteen years

Been three weeks I can't get through
Phone is dead. Baby is that you?
Been three weeks I can't get through
Phone is dead. Baby is that you?
Baby is that you?

Refrain:
Salty lips to taste skin to touch
Nothing matters very much
In your arms its a raining pleasure
I believe its raining pleasure

Listening to the mp3 of Dave's solo rendition of 'Go Home Eddie' admist all the new boxset excitement made we want to play it. So, i think i've got the chords (basically):

                            G                 Am
Well what did you expect to find here
          Bm                     C
On this balmy summers night
       G                               D
The band's stop playing, the crowd's dispersed
                   Em                        D
And they've killed the colour lights
            G                      Am              Bm                             C
They're folding up the tressels and dismantling the marque
G                         D                                 Em                        D
Anyone with any sense and too eyes in their head could see
              Em                 Am
That it's over, yes it's over

       F                    C                             F                         C
It's dark upon the lawn, why are you standing here alone?
Em               D      Em                      D
Go home Eddie, turn back to your home.
C                             G              C                        G          D
Go home for your god's sake, if not for your own

Rest is the same chords repeated with little variances I believe.

I just worked out Trick of the Light so that my band can play it and figured it would be worth posting here:

(This is based on the version from "In The Pines".)

(Single Strums for this first part.)
             C
It's only an image of her
D                             G
Just a trick of the light

G
I have a letter, familiar paper.
             C             D
I keep a figurine in a locket
G
It's dedicated, engraved initials.
             C             D
Yellow photograph in a pocketbook

(This is the Chorus)
C                         D
Well the rim of her mouth is golden,
G                         C
But her eyes were just desert sands.
C                        G
But that's not her.
C                        G
That's just the light.
C                        G
Only an image of her.
D                        G
Just a trick of the light.

I have a letter, gives me directions
Name of the street where I should turn.
Spoke to a woman that burst into flames
Saying "back to you honey, no returns".

(Chorus)

I was beating on her like an anvil.
Beating her out of original shape.
With that same old panic, caught on her face
I copied the image of the ancient template.

(Chorus)

(Instrumental Break)

There's a man, sowing sunflowers,
There's a woman, weeping weeds.
You can find no rest in sleep,
You can find no peace in greed.

(Chorus) x2

(Second time through the chorus, miss the first two lines and start at "Oh that's not her...".)

You know that some of these lyrics are impossibly
inaccurate don't you?
I just checked again and of course you do.
It's a bit like 'Day of the Locusts' :
The man standing next to me - his head was exploding
Well I was praying the pieces wouldn't land on me.
( When I say 'it's a bit like Day of the Locusts I'm not
making a comparison with your words, I'm describing
   my feelings on reading them.)

An amendment to the Raining Pleasure Chords posted above.
For the verses instead of a C chord it's a Dm add2/a (x03230)
For the think about you sections the chords are C and Fmaj7/A (x03210)

The last chord of the refrain is a Bb rather than a D
In the realm of the senseless....

Hi, does anyone know the chords to the songs "Born Sandy Devotional" or "Lanallu"?

Cheers,

Born Sandy should be Em, Am, G and Dm from memory if you use the remastered In the Pines version as your basis. I think the original version the tapes were sped up slightly which makes working out the song slightly more problematic.
In the realm of the senseless....

Here's a rough go at the lovely 'Spanish Blue'...

INTRO:
E|--------------------------------------|-----------------------|-------------------|
B|-----2-5--7---5(x2)---5 7 5----5-|-------2--------------|---5(x4)--3--2---|
G|---2----------------------------7----|-----2----6---4(x2)-|-------------------|
D|-2-----------------------------------|---2-------------------|-------------------|
A|0------------------------------------|-0---------------------|-------------------|
E|--------------------------------------|-----------------------|-------------------| Into...D E A D-A

(Verses go: Bm    E    A     D-A)

                          Bm
Nothing happens here
                          E
Nothing gets done
                          A
But you get to like it
          F#m                                    D
You get to like the beating of the sun
                                E
The washing of the sun
                     A   D-A
In Spanish blue

We sit on the footpath
We drink all day
The roads are in disrepair
I don't know when they haven't been that way
They've always been that way
In Spanish blue

                              D
Once I felt some pain
                    Bm        F#m
But it was gone in a flash
     D          G            E
A flash of dirt and ash

Nothing happens here
Nothing gets done
But you get to like it
You get to like the beating of the sun
The washing of the sun
In Spanish blue

Black insects crawl
On yellow walls
They seem to move
But they don't move to any place at all
No place at all
In Spanish blue

                               D
Once I felt some pain
                    Bm          F#m
But it was gone in a flash
    D            G            Cmaj7
A flash of dirt and ash
F                  E
Of dirt and ash

Nothing happens here
Nothing gets done
But you get to like it

Tarrilup Bridge Intro and Chords - More and more one of my favourite Triffids songs. (Any corrections or additions welcome).

INTRO:

E|-------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------8--------------------------------------------|
G|--9-11---11--9--7-----7--9------------------------|
D|-----------------------9------------------------------|
A|-------------------------------------------------------|
E|-------------------------------------------------------|

Verses:
                   Em
I packed my bag

         Am               Em
Left a note on the fridge

       G                                    Em
And I drove off the end of the Tarrilup Bridge.

Em
Now you read about me in the papers

                                         Am    Em
They say I'm going to be a big star

         G                   Em
They're making a movie about my life

        G                         Em
And you're going to play the starring part

(THE SAME CHORD SECQUENCE FOR THE REST OF THE SONG)...

Now my drinking days are over
Get this through your head:
I was the best friend you ever had

Yes I was your best friend
You were my blinding sun
Now the only thing bright is my name in lights
And the night has only just begun

I packed my bag
Left a note on the fridge
And I drove off the end of the Tarrilup Bridge
