I'll add my two'pennorth in praise of Fox Confessor James. Great album - great songs - killer voice. The same applies to Jenny Lewis' album too. Seven Angels on a Bicycle by Carrie Rodriguez made it a great year for country-tinged ladies and is well worth seeking out too.

You might want to give the Midlake album a listen too. I just got a copy and it's pretty damn good...er...in a 1971 kind of way  Wink Cheesy.
