"Light on the water, We could sail on forever"

« on: November 15, 2006, 12:16:06 AM »

I had this line inexplicably running through head momentarily for some reason last night - and it took me a while to work out where it came from and that it was from a Triffids song.

It expresses a notion that is the conversational antithesis of the more common "not being able to get a word in edgeways", concentrating on the silences between words. It displaces the expected phrase, "How can I put it into words".

Apart from being a spectacular little bit of wordplay, it does actually mean something in it's context as Kelly's Blues seems to be about the struggle with non-verbal forms of communication when confronted by someone you care about in a catatonic state.
