I can't pick on anything there - you've done a great job gazza.

It's absolutely glorious. I can't wait to see it up on the wall.

As for "the triffids.com" - everyone knows that URLs don't have spaces in them surely. Even so, I think there's little danger of that happening; you've managed to make it look as if there's separation between the words so it reads well and yet not look as if there's a space there.

Just heard that the survey has been completed, and that there shouldn't be any problems with the installation. Next stage is to get the colours signed off (I've got a mate in London who'll be taking care of that for me) just in case the colours I've selected don't quite match how they look once they're been transferred to enamel. And after that it's full steam ahead with the plaque itself.

Right, unless there are any more comments, I'm going to send the file off later tonight. Assuming I can bring myself to accept that there's nothing more to be done.

Maybe I'll just leave it till the morning…

Colours approved by my mate Frank in London. Asked him to bear in mind the overall effect rather than absolute colour accuracy (since transferring a colour from a Pantone swatch to something in enamel is never going to be an exact science).

Detailed verdict: the light green (tree and border) is a perfect match; the dark green is much colder than specified but will still look good as the two greens contrast nicely; the yellow for the logo is brighter but should be more easily legible at a distance. Overall verdict: job well done.

Since Frank is a much better designer than I'll ever be, I'm rather pleased with that.

Back to the manufacturing: I'm guessing that by now the metalwork will be done, so the next stage will be to start on the enamelling.

Just caught up with this Gazza, great stuff!

The version 3 had a colder green than the final, they both worked well. The final also looks better with the taller double f's.

The version 3 had a colder green than the final…

Just checked back through my emails in case I'd sent different files to Frank and to Burnhams, but they definitely got the same colour references. Can claim with confidence that any differences are down to manufacturing rather than my ineptitude.

Strangely though, the original green does have less yellow, and it could be described as colder. The only reason I changed it was because they couldn't match the original with any reliability due to the way I'd specified it.

Received a photo of the completed plaque a few hours ago. One or two minor concerns about the colour, particularly the yellow/gold, but they turned out to be down to the lighting conditions in the factory. The people at Burnhams are in the best position to judge, and they reckon it looks really good (though they probably would say that).

In short, we're ready to go. But if you want to see what it looks like you'll need to get down to Britton Street on 28 June: I won't be posting the photo and we've deleted all the old artwork shots. The bigger the turn out the better.

More details from John a little later, I imagine.

Yeah, KrieB, I believe the date and time are fixed as described at Wednesday 28 June 2006 at circa 1600 hours. Be there. You (collectively speaking) are the details.
